Health and Safety Manager

LOCATION: Chapel-en-le-Frith

SALARY & BENEFITS: Competitive rates of pay

WORKING HOURS: (Core hours) 35hrs per week. Monday – Friday 09.00 – 17.00 (Must be flexible to work additional hours as business requires)

THE ROLE:  A fantastic new opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Manager to join Street Crane.

Key Tasks:

To develop all aspects of the company’s Health & Safety policy and activity, ensuring consistent and appropriate implementation at company, departmental, team and individual level,
To monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming Health & Safety legislation and ensure the group companies have systems & practice in place to meet legal compliance,
To continually assess the status of Health & Safety within the company, identify areas for improvement and develop new policies and systems to address these. To ensure that these are successfully embedded within the company.
To develop and maintain rigorous risk assessment and accident management systems and to take part in these as appropriate,
Training – to identify employee training needs in respect of Health & Safety and to develop management controls to ensure training need is continually update and addressed,
To deliver training directly and to source training providers as necessary,
To be a source of competent and timely advice, being the subject matter expert to all areas of the company.
To educate and inform the senior management team with regards to Health & Safety, including liabilities, performance rends, risks and opportunities.
To advise on customer site audits when our engineers are on site to ensure best practice, undertaking spot checks when required,
To work alongside other Departments (e.g. QA and ISO9001 standards implementation) and business areas to ensure Health & Safety standards are appropriately implemented within their areas of control and are sufficiently robust for anticipated demands thus ensuring we continue to deliver world class customer service.
Develop and maintain effective communication of health and safety matters through effective communication channels – e.g. safety committee meetings and consultation with reps,
Develop H&S metrics and undertake audits,

Key Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience at H&S Manager level.
  • Experience of heavy manufacturing, ideally within the Cranes sector. 
  • Experience of successfully  implementing and managing HS policy /strategy within challenging environments.
  • Able to demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills at all levels, successfully changing behaviours of key stakeholders at every level within the organisation.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Communication, influencing, negotiating and assertiveness. 
  • Decision making, sound business judgement. 
  • Quality management / delivering Customer requirements. – knowledge and experience  of ISO9001.
  • Project management. 
  • Change Management. 
  • Effective people management. 
  • PC literate with MRP systems, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

Skills:

  • Report writing and presentation skills.

Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (Health and Safety)
